The idea gained momentum when Mr. Pravi Tail, deeply concerned about the city’s environmental future, approached Dr. Agale. Around the same time, Mr. Vikram Sali took charge as the new Commandant of SRPF-14 and expressed a strong interest in contributing to water conservation efforts.
The trio—Dr. Agale, Mr. Sali, and Mr. Tail—held several brainstorming sessions to explore innovative, large-scale water solutions. In one such meeting, Dr. Agale proposed the establishment of a dedicated Center for Water Literacy, emphasizing awareness, education, and practical demonstrations of sustainable water practices. Mr. Sali immediately supported the idea and offered the SRPF-14 hill campus as the pilot site.
Mr. Pravi Tail mobilized resources for the project by bringing in local philanthropists and supporters, including Mr. Vinit Pitty, Mr. Saurabh Desarda, Mr. Nikhil Khivensara, and Mr. Ravi Chudhari. Together, they formed a partnership with SRPF ,Eco Needs Foundation, Pryas Youth Foundation.Lions Club Mide Town (NX), Young Indians (CSN)
Dr. Agale then designed the technical blueprint for the site, which included:
Percolation tanks
Check dams
Continuous Contour Trenches (CCTs)
Gully plugging structures
Gabion walls
Nalla bunds
A river-linking prototype model
Roof water harvesting
Wastewater Treatment
These structures collectively serve to harvest rainwater, recharge groundwater, prevent soil erosion, and improve the microclimate of the area.
