Indias First Center for Water Literacy

Vision and Need

Marathwada has long battled recurring droughts and water scarcity. Its capital, Aurangabad, was once among Asia’s fastest-growing cities in the 1980s, but urban development has slowed considerably due to a worsening water crisis. Surrounded by beautiful hill ranges, the area offers natural potential for rainwater harvesting and sustainable water management.

Recognizing this, Dr. Agale envisioned a model that could harness this potential: a Center for Water Literacy that would educate people on water conservation techniques while also creating real-world conservation infrastructure.
